Use felt pads on the feet or base of furniture to protect the floor from excessive scratching.
OSMO UV PROTECTION OIL – MAINTENANCE ADVICE
Depending on the level of weathering apply 1 coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra after approximately 3-4 years on the cleaned and intact finish. In general, one has to take a shorter renovation time into account when surfaces are exposed to extreme weathering and surfaces where water cannot drain (horizontal surfaces
such as deckings, post caps, windowsill and garden chairs).
If, however the greying process has already begun revive the surface with the Osmo Wood Reviver and re-apply 2 coats of the Osmo UV-Protection-Oil Extra.
OSMO POLYX HARD-WAX-OIL RAPID – MAINTENANCE ADVICE
For daily maintenance a duster, mop or vacuum cleaner will be sufficient. Floors treated with Osmo Polyx Hard-Wax-Oil rapid can be cleaned with water (containing Osmo Wash and Care).
For persistent stains, remove with Osmo Liguid Wax Cleaner (also available as spray). This will also revive the appearance of the surface. When the surface becomes a little dull apply a thin coat of Osmo Polyx Hardwax-Oil Rapid and wipe with cloth or electric floor polisher. Clean floor (as above) prior to re-finishing.
For renovation apply a thin coat of Osmo POLYX Hardwax Oil rapid on a clean dry floor. This is also possible in hard used areas. No repair marks will be visible.
BONA TRAFFIC HD MAINTENANCE
Clean the floor with Bona Cleaner or Bona Wood Floor Cleaner and a micro fibre pad. For maintenance and long term protection of the surface, floors can be over coated at intervals with additional coats of varnish. The frequency of this operation can be greatly reduced if Bona Freshen Up or Bona Wood Floor Refresher is applied periodically. This will restore the appearance of a dull floor whilst still allowing further coats of varnish to be applied without the need for sanding the floor back to bare timber.
TREATEX – CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE TIPS.
To safeguard floors we recommend all furniture be fitted with felt pads. Similarly, any objects you place on worktops such as chopping boards, containers, flower/tea pots may have rough and abrasive bases. Stick small rubber or felt pads to these to avoid scratching.
Mop up spills of water and other liquids as soon as possible. When using a mop, ensure that the mop is only slightly damp and never dripping with water.
Do not use bleach or aggressive cleaners on wood. Never use a steam cleaner on your surface.
Use a chopping board for food preparation – do not chop directly onto wooden worktops. Protect floors by using a good quality doormat to trap abrasive particles at the door.
It is very important to keep wooden surfaces clean. Dust, dirt and grit should be regularly removed using a damp cloth, microfibre mop or a vacuum cleaner with a soft attachment. If allowed to build up, dust, dirt or grit can act like sandpaper, scratching and dulling your finish. If your surface looks dull, clean using Treatex Spray On Floor & Surface Cleaner or Treatex Floor Care.
Spray On Floor & Surface Cleaner is a convenient ready diluted spray which is designed to quickly clean and maintain surfaces treated with Treatex Hardwax Oil. This PH neutral product contains Vegetable oils and Carnauba wax, which means that as your surface is cleaned, a thin replenishing and protective layer of wax is also applied. Simply spray the surface lightly with Spray On Floor & Surface Cleaner and wipe with a cloth or mop.
If you are using Treatex Floor Care in its concentrate form, begin by diluting 25-50ml in 5 litres of water. Clean the floor with this solution using a mop, ensuring that the mop is only damp and never wet, or a slow buffing machine with a white pad. Care must be taken to mix the product to the correct ratio – making it repeatedly stronger can turn the floor slightly slippery, if this happens wash with only water 2-3 times which will correct the wax level.
Worn surfaces can be easily renovated using Treatex Preparation Cleaner or Treatex Wax Polish.
Treatex Preparation Cleaner is an aggressive cleaner which removes contaminates such as dirt, grease and fat, leaving wood ready for refreshing with Wax Polish. Preparation removes a small amount of wax, so do not use it for regular cleaning.
Wax Polish is an easy to apply clear polish designed to refresh worn wooden surfaces finished with Treatex Hardwax Oil. It is based on the same natural sustainable raw materials as our Hardwax Oil: Linseed oil, Sunflower oil, Jojoba oil, Beeswax, Carnauba wax and Candelilla wax. Wax Polish forms a durable, water repellent and non slip finish. Wax Polish can be wiped on using a lint free cloth or buffed on using a slow machine with a white pad.
